'The Psychopathology of Everyday Life' is a psychological work on forgetting, slips of the tongue, bungled actions, superstitions and errors. Sigismund Schlomo Freud was born on 6th May 1856, in the Moravian town of Příbor, now part of the Czech Republic. He studied a variety of subjects, including philosophy, physiology, and zoology, graduating with an MD in 1881. Freud made a huge and lasting contribution to the field of psychology with many of his methods still being used in modern psychoanalysis. He inspired much discussion on the wealth of theories he produced and the reactions to his works began a century of great psychological investigation.

Book excerpt: Psychopathology of Everyday Life is a 1901 work by Sigmund Freud, based on his researches into slips and parapraxes from 1897 onwards, - one which became perhaps the best-known of all his writings.Jacques Lacan considered it one of the three key texts for an understanding of the unconscious, alongside The Interpretation of Dreams (1900), and Wit and their Relation to the Unconscious (1905). Sometimes called the Mistake Book (to go with the Dream Book and the Wit Book), the work became one of the scientific classics of the 20th century. Through its stress on what Freud called "switch words" and "verbal bridges", it is considered important not only for psychopathology but also for modern linguistics, semantics, and philosophy.

This book was released on 2022-06-12 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Interpretation of Dreams is a book in which Freud introduces his theory of the unconscious with respect to dream interpretation, and also first discusses what would later become the theory of the Oedipus complex, and it is widely considered one of his most important works. Dreams, in Freud's view, are all forms of wish fulfillment"— attempts by the unconscious to resolve a conflict of some sort, whether something recent or something from the recesses of the past. Psychopathology of Everyday Life is a work based on Freud's researches into slips and parapraxes from 1897 onwards, one which became perhaps the best-known of all his writings. Sometimes called the Mistake Book, the work became one of the scientific classics of the 20th century. Through its stress on what Freud called "switch words" and "verbal bridges", it is considered important for psychopathology. Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious is a book on the psychoanalysis of jokes and humor. In this work, Freud described the psychological processes and techniques of jokes, which he likened as similar to the processes and techniques of dream-work and the Unconscious. Freud claims that our enjoyment of the joke indicates what is being repressed in more serious talk. Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an Austrian neurologist and the father of psychoanalysis, a clinical method for treating psychopathology through dialogue between a patient and a psychoanalyst. In creating psychoanalysis, Freud developed therapeutic techniques such as the use of free association and discovered transference, establishing its central role in the analytic process.

This book was released on 1991 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DeBerry presents a new model of human consciousness and takes a penetrating look at the relationship of consciousness and technology. Suggesting that we reintegrate the concept of consciousness into mainstream psychology, he uses his model to explore the deleterious effects of the "accelerated television video universe" on the quality of our lives. What role has technology played in the shifting of human consciousness to a predominantly impersonal dimension where only the material world matters? Intended for courses in graduate psychology, this volume's interdisciplinary perspective makes it equally relevant for courses in all social sciences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Psychopathology of Everyday Life Professor Freud developed his system of psychoanalysis while studying the so-called borderline cases of mental diseases, such as hysteria and compulsion neurosis. By discarding the old methods of treatment and strictly applying himself to a study of the patient's life he discovered that the hitherto puzzling symptoms had a definite meaning, and that there was nothing arbitrary in any morbid manifestation. Psychoanalysis always showed that they referred to some definite problem or conflict of the person concerned. It was while tracing back the abnormal to the normal state that Professor Freud found how faint the line of demarcation was between the normal and neurotic person, and that the psychopathologic mechanisms so glaringly observed in the psychoneuroses and psychoses could usually be demonstrated in a lesser degree in normal persons. This led to a study of the faulty actions of everyday life and later to the publication of the Psychopathology of Everyday Life, a book which passed through four editions in Germany and is considered the author's most popular work.
