Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE DAYS BETWEEN Christmas and New Year’s Eve are dead days, when spirits roam and magic shifts restlessly just beneath the surface of our lives. A magician called Valerian must save his own life within those few days or pay the price for the pact he made with evil so many years ago. But alchemy and sorcery are no match against the demonic power pursuing him. Helping him is his servant, Boy, a child with no name and no past. The quick-witted orphan girl, Willow, is with them as they dig in death fields at midnight, and as they are swept into the sprawling blackness of a subterranean city on a journey from which there is no escape. Praise for The Book of Dead Days: “Beautifully paced and sometimes blood-soaked. . . . A very tangible sense of evil.”—The Guardian “Subtle menace and power.”—The Independent “Packed with drama, mystery, and intrigue.”—The Bookseller
Download H. P. Lovecraft and the Black Magickal Tradition PDF by John L. Steadman Full Free and published by Weiser Books. This book was released on 2015-09-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern practicing occultists have argued that renowned horror writer H. P. Lovecraft was in possession of in-depth knowledge of black magick. Literary scholars claim that he was a master of his genre and craft, and his findings are purely psychological, nothing more. Was Lovecraft a practitioner of the dark arts himself? Was he privileged to knowledge that cannot be otherwise explained? Weaving the life story of Lovecraft in and out of an analysis of various modern magickal systems, scholar John Steadman has found direct and concrete examples that demonstrate that Lovecraft’s works and specifically his Cthulhu Mythos and his creation of the Necronomicon are a legitimate basis for a working magickal system. Whether you believe Lovecraft had supernatural powers or not, no one can argue against Lovecraft’s profound influence on many modern black arts and the darker currents of western occultism.

Download The Book of the Dead PDF by E. A. Wallis Budge Full Free and published by Digireads.com. This book was released on 2020-09-18 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Book of the Dead" is one of the most famous texts to survive from the ancient world. Its original name in Egyptian is literally translated as the "Book of Coming Forth by Day" or the "Book of Emerging Forth into the Light" and was in use for over two thousand years by ancient Egyptians. It was a loose collection of spells and prayers used to assist a person in their journey after death through the underworld and into the afterlife. Copies were often placed in burial chambers or coffins and selected spells were sometimes written on objects or walls. The existence of this ancient book of spells has been known by Europeans since the Middle Ages, but the most complete version was not discovered until 1888 by E. A. Wallis Budge, the noted English Egyptologist who acquired objects for the British Museum. This version of the ancient text, known as the Papyrus of Ani, is dated to 1500 B.C. and was written by Ani, the Royal Scribe of Thebes. Presented here is Budge's translation, first published in 1895, which brought this timeless and fascinating ancient text to the greater attention of the English-speaking world. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.

Download The Profit Book One PDF by Richard David Kennedy Full Free and published by Lulu Press, Inc. This book was released on 2014-12-23 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do you get when you take a failed novelist, a capricious “alien,” a world renowned– but debauched evangelist, an alcoholic estate manager and mix them together with a half dozen other eccentric characters? What you get is distinctly different cocktail called THE PROFIT that you won’t be able to order at a bar anywhere. The plot is a riddle in an enigma that is so well-woven and imaginative it’s almost too simple to understand. The content is mature, intended for adults who are discerning readers who enjoy fine, avant-garde literature and bristling social satire, particularly about evangelists and their followers, and should be appreciated by atheists, agnostics and the devoutly religious alike who have open minds. The reader is sure to be as "captivated" as is the Writerman in the book in this most exquisite of his offerings. “Born to write, ranking beside any great author in the world today. A brilliant writer who will take you on a journey you will never forget." K. Chandler, Melbourne, Australia 2000

Download The Disobedient Spirits and Christian Baptism PDF by Bo Reicke Full Free and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-02-21 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bo Ivar Reicke (1914Ð1987) was born and schooled in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1933 he matriculated in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Stockholm, transferring, however, in 1935 to the University of Uppsala, where in 1937 he received his degree in the areas of the history of religions and classical Greek and philosophy. From 1938 he continued his studies in the Faculty of Theology of the same university. Graduating in 1941, he became ordained in December of the same year as a minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden. He immediately continued with doctoral studies, choosing the exegesis of the Old and New Testaments as his field of research. In May 1946 he presented in print and publicly defended his dissertation, The Disobedient Spirits and Christian Baptism: A Study of 1 Pet. III.19 and Its Context, [Acta Seminarii Neotestamentici Upsaliensis Edenda Curavit A. Fridrichsen, 13] (Lund 1946). In the official statement to the university, his New Testament teacher, Professor A. Fridrichsen, describes the dissertation as a weighty contribution to the solution of an old exegetical problem and goes on to recommend the author for a position on the Uppsala Faculty. In the following years, Reicke taught New Testament exegesis as assistant professor in his home faculty. In September of 1953 he received the call of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Basel, Switzerland, to fill the chair in New Testament. Moving to Basel with his family, Reicke served there for thirty years until his retirement in 1984. In addition to lecturing around the world and training about forty doctoral students, he was the author of a number of books (see below). Still actively writing and lecturing, Bo Reicke died in Basel in May of 1987.

Book excerpt: As her mother slipped into the darkness of old age, Lisa Appignanesi began to realise how little she knew of the reality behind the tales she had heard since childhood. She had shunned her parents' stories of war-time Poland, but now she set out to find the truth. In her quest she flew to Warsaw - imagining and revisiting a past she never knew. This is the moving story of the Jews who survived outside the camps, but it is also the author's own voyage of self-discovery - a family memoir of the rites of passage of emigration, childhood, and growing up an outsider in a closed community

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FOR NEARLY 150 years, the Review and Herald has been the official church paper of the Seventh-day Adventist people. A paper, The Present Truth, was first printed in August 1849. In 1851 the name was changed to Second Advent Review and Sabbath Herald. Over the decades the church paper has carried a number of names, and as of 2012 it is simply Adventist Review. Our “church paper”actually preceded, by fourteen years, the official organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1863. From its inception, throughout her life, the messenger of the Lord, Ellen G. White, used the Review and Herald as one of the main avenues of communicating God’s counsels to His remnant people. During that sixty-six year span nearly 2,000 messages by God of direction, reproof, and inspiration were published in the Review and Herald. This present edition has all of her articles, published through 1915, unabridged in four volumes.
